Release – Century Lithium Updates Progress on Testing With Koch Technology Solutions

Research News and Market Data on CYDVF

August 9, 2023 – Vancouver, Canada – Century Lithium Corp. (TSXV: LCE) (OTCQX: CYDVF) (Frankfurt: C1Z) (Century Lithium or the Company) is pleased to report successful progress in its collaboration with Koch Technology Solutions (KTS), a Koch Engineered Solutions (KES) company. As reported previously (see April 17, 2023, news release) Century Lithium and KTS are working together on the application of KTS’s Li-ProTM system at Century’s Lithium Extraction Facility (Pilot Plant) in Amargosa Valley, Nevada, USA.

“Century Lithium is delighted to see the progress made in our collaboration with Koch Technology Solutions” stated Bill Willoughby, President, and CEO of Century Lithium. “Our team, with KTS’s input has successfully incorporated and operated the equipment at our Pilot Plant with significantly improved results.”

Since October 2021, Century Lithium has been continuously testing the extraction of lithium from the claystone found at its 100%-owned Clayton Valley Lithium Project (Project) in Nevada utilizing a chloride-based leaching process. Testing of the Li-ProTM system was conducted to evaluate potential improvements in the direct lithium extraction (DLE) area of the Pilot Plant.

Adam Sackett, President of Koch Technology Solutions, added, “The steady state results generated onsite with the Koch Technology Solutions Li-Pro™ Direct Lithium Extraction process has hit all our key milestones for the Century pilot program. We are excited to move towards engineering and executing a Li-Pro™ installation with commercial process guarantees.”

With the integration of KTS’s DLE process, the grades of the intermediate lithium solution produced at the Pilot Plant have increased to the highest levels to date, with an average grade of 7.5 grams/liter (g/l) (7,500 parts per million) lithium. These lithium concentrations are four times higher than previously generated, with sodium concentrations almost an order of magnitude lower.

Highlights To Date

  • Successful installation and operation of Koch’s Li-ProTM DLE process
  • Li-ProTM plant achieved steady state using Century Lithium’s chloride leaching process
  • Manufacture intermediate solutions with lithium grades of 7 to 8 g/l concentrations with average lithium to sodium ratios of 0.9 to 1.1
  • No observed degradation of media or accumulation of deleterious elements

Operational Results

Since the installation of KTS’s DLE equipment, Century Lithium has focused on improvements related to the operational aspects of the Pilot Plant and adjustments to the final flowsheet. These improvements were well supported through the development and incorporation of KTS’s DLE equipment at the Pilot Plant.

Century Lithium, with the support of KTS, has identified techniques to improve lithium recovery within the DLE area while minimizing deleterious elements in the final solutions. Collaboration between Century Lithium and Koch staff is very productive, generating ideas and changes that have resulted in the complete removal of calcium and magnesium, and marked reduction of sodium and potassium in the product solutions.

Release – Cypress Development Provides Progress Update on Feasibility Study And Lithium Extraction Facility

Research News and Market Data on CYDVF

January 23, 2023

January 23, 2023 – Vancouver, Canada – Cypress Development Corp. (TSXV: CYP) (OTCQX: CYDVF) (Frankfurt: C1Z1) (“Cypress” or “the Company”) is pleased to provide a progress update on its ongoing Feasibility Study being conducted on the Company’s Clayton Valley Lithium Project (“Project”) near Silver Peak, Nevada, and on its operational Lithium Extraction Facility (“Pilot Plant”) in Amargosa Valley, Nevada.

Highlights

  • The Pilot Plant continues to function as designed, working to optimize the Project’s flowsheet. The Plant leaches lithium-bearing claystone material, through to the production of concentrated lithium solution using the Company’s Direct Lithium Extraction (“DLE”) process.
  • Additional piloting runs will take place at Saltworks Technologies, Inc. following the successful production of lithium carbonate (“Li2CO3”) from the Pilot Plant’s concentrated lithium solutions.
  • The Project’s Feasibility Study is on schedule and is continuing to advance toward an anticipated second quarter 2023 completion.

Pilot Plant testing has achieved targets in most areas, including operating with 100% recycled solutions. Specific challenges were addressed with sufficient results to aid in the completion of the Feasibility Study. Further testing in 2023 is planned to confirm the overall process, continue to demonstrate the flowsheet, and produce samples of Li2CO3. Additional 1000-liter lots of concentrated lithium solution from the DLE section of the Pilot Plant will be shipped to Saltworks Technologies, Inc, in Richmond, B.C., Canada by month end.

2023 plans for the Pilot Plant include testing alternate reagents and equipment, which may include identification of potential by-products, and ways to enhance impurity removal and the DLE process area. Additional space within the Pilot Plant building has been prepared for this work.

Feasibility Study

The Feasibility Study is advancing on schedule, with completion anticipated by mid-year. On-site infrastructure designs, including, mine, processing plant, and tailings and waste storage facilities are completed. Cost estimating and market studies are underway, along with assessments for construction, component lead-time and off-site infrastructure. Completion of the Feasibility Study will then await integration of the design and cost estimates for the acid plant underway by thyssenkrupp nucera.

In addition, Cypress management is assessing personnel needs and future Project financing opportunities and structures, which may include government grants and loans.

Lithium from Nevada claystone. Cypress Development is advancing its 100%-owned Clayton Valley Lithium Project in Nevada. Cypress intends to mine claystone, produce a high-grade lithium concentrate solution using a chloride leach process, and apply a licensed direct lithium extraction process based on ion-exchange to produce lithium carbonate suitable for battery producers supplying the growing electric vehicle and battery storage market.

Funding from the U.S. Department of Energy. The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Loan Programs Office (LPO) recently offered a conditional commitment to lend up to US$700 million to develop Ioneer’s (Nasdaq: IONR) Rhyolite Ridge lithium-boron mining project in Nevada. In our view, the loan reflects the U.S. government’s commitment to assure domestic supplies of lithium and other critical minerals for the growing electric vehicle battery market.

Another box checked. Cypress Development selected thyssenkrupp nucera USA, Inc. to provide the design and engineering for the chlor-alkali plant as it advances its Clayton Valley Lithium Project in Nevada. The chlor-alkali plant will enable the project to produce two key reagents, hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide, required for processing lithium-bearing claystone through to a lithium carbonate product. The company’s selection of thyssenkrupp nucera represents another step towards completion of the feasibility study in the second quarter of 2023.

Feasibility study is taking shape. Work on the feasibility study commenced in March under the direction of Wood PLC and is advancing as planned. Wood, along with support from others, has completed or is nearing completion of several items, including resource and reserve estimates, mine plan, processing plant design, and tailings and waste storage facilities.
