IPO Podcast – Kathy Ireland

The idea: Transition from Supermodel to Super Mogul with a pair of socks. Meet Kathy Ireland.

Parlayed teen modeling into supermodel then super mogul… Her multi-billion-dollar empire is now ranked among the top 50 licensing companies in the world with annual sales of $2 billion. Her personal fortune is over $500 million.

GUEST:

Perhaps best known for appearing in 13 consecutive Sports Illustrated swimsuit issues, Supermodel Kathy Ireland left that life behind a long time ago in pursuit of her entrepreneurial roots. In 1993 founded her brand marketing company, kathy ireland Worldwide (yes, lower case k and i). Her first product: a pair of socks. Although kiWW had a rocky start, she never gave up. She sold 100,000,000 pairs of socks (yes, that’s millions). Today, with annual sales north of $2 billion, Kathy and her business are regarded as one of the most enduring American success stories by the likes of Bill Gates and Warren Buffett (who has been a mentor to Kathy for 30 years). This is a story you’ll want to hear. On IPO.

Running time 52:03

HIGHLIGHTS:

10:17 – Interview with Ms. Ireland

14:45 – “I was an aging, pregnant model at my kitchen table – no one would buy my products because my name was on it.”

HOST:

Brant Pinvidic, Hollywood producer and director (Bar Rescue, Biggest loser), C-level corporate consultant, columnist for Forbes and author (3-Minute Rule – Penguin Random House, October 2019).

News – CFA, CFP, CPA, CAIA, ChFC, CIPM, OMG when will it end?

An Alphabet Soup of Financial Designations

Last Saturday, a record 250,000 people around
the world sat to take one of the grueling 6-hour-long exams offered in the CFA®
program, which is 11% more than last year. With a 10-year average pass rate of
44%, these exams are widely considered to be among the toughest in the
industry. Worst of all, you need to pass three levels of exams before you’re
eligible to hold the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA). The exams are offered
only once (or twice for the first level) a year, so it can take the better half
of a decade to get through all of them. But the CFA® designation is only one of
the growing number of professional designations in the financial industry. The
proliferation of professional designations has sparked a debate on the value
that these programs bring to the industry. In some ways, the number and variety
of designations have had a dilutive effect on the perception of their value.
Many of the CFA® candidates last Saturday, who were sitting in their testing
center staring down the barrel of a 120-question exam on a perfectly sunny
summer weekend day, must have been wondering, “Is this really worth it?”

Noble Capital Markets’ sixteenth annual investor conference

Noble Capital Markets’ plans are set for its sixteenth
annual NobleCon investor conference to be held at the
New Hard Rock, South Florida, February 2020

June 14, 2019 – Fort Lauderdale, Florida – Noble Capital Markets (Noble) announced today that its sixteenth annual investor conference (NobleCon16) featuring emerging growth public companies will be held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (Hard Rock) in Hollywood, Florida, February 16-18, 2020.

The multi-sector NobleCon has become the preeminent showcase of emerging growth companies that attracts a broad cross-section of investors including institutions, family offices, Registered Investment Advisor representatives, self-directed investors, independent brokers and high-net-worth individuals. NobleCon utilizes four tracks for companies to present to investors – running simultaneously in half-hour intervals – with total representation strictly limited to 125 public companies. Qualified attending investors will be offered one-on-one opportunities in addition to the formal presentations made by the c-suite executive teams. Significant keynote addresses, provocative panel presentations led by key opinion leaders, and large-scale networking events round out the schedule. Attendance will be limited to 1,000.

The first NobleCon, close to fifteen years ago, was held at this Hard Rock. Both NobleCon and Hard Rock Hollywood have more than tripled in size over that time frame. “We were one of the first conferences to be held at the then brand new Hard Rock and this will again be true in 2020,” said Mark Pinvidic, Managing Partner at Noble. The $1.5-billion, 3.2 million-sq-ft expansion, scheduled to be completed this October, will increase the room-count from 469 to 1267, including 638 rooms (each over 500-sq-ft) in first-in-the-world, guitar-shaped tower, a new 6,500-seat Hard Rock Live, 36 new restaurants bars and lounges, expanded casino floor, resort pools covering close to 20 acres and the expansion of conference facilities by five times from what was available for NobleCon1. “Hard Rock was a fantastic host for a total of six NobleCons – one of which was opened with a keynote address by Hard Rock International CEO, Jim Allen – but we simply outgrew it. We’re excited for the 2020 reunion in this remarkable location,” said Pinvidic. The 40,000-sq-ft allocated to NobleCon will include four, 2,000-sq-ft presentation rooms featuring 8’X12’ UHD laser projection screens, over 9,000-sq-ft dedicated to one-on-one meetings, and 17,000-sq-ft for keynote addresses, receptions and networking, sponsors, and the serving of breakfasts and lunches. Hard Rock has several acres of free parking and is located about 12 minutes west of Fort Lauderdale / Hollywood International Airport.

Companies invited to attend and present at NobleCon16 are selected from the over 6,000 emerging growth public companies on Channelchek. All NobleCon updates and opportunities for presenting companies, sponsors and investors to register for the conference are available on Channelchek.
